Europe on a Budget

Hello all! I'm working on my Italian phrases, and I've got the basics down:

Parla inglese? (do you speak english?)

Quanto costa? (how much does it cost?)

Sono Vegetariana. Non posso prenere carne. (I'm a vegetarian. I can't have any meat. (Joey you say Vegetariano))

Vorrei it fon (I would like a hair dryer)
Fermare! (Stop! (This is for all the men who will be oagaling over katy's blond hair))

I think I'm pretty much ready to go now, actually. That covers all of the things I'll ever need to say. Ha ha I'M KIDDING! I am starting to work really hard at this. I'm renting a few italian films from netflix, and I'm going to have a friend who knows spanish and italian quiz me. Also, I got a book on all of Europe so we can start planning where else we want to go. If anyone has suggestions of places to check out, let me know!

As the girls have both touched on, it was really nice of everyone to have a surprise going away party for the three of us! We are in good company at the Wilson Art Center for sure. I love you all.
Also I'm "thankful" that it's Thanksgiving break because now I finally have some free time to get some stuff done in regards to traveling abroad. I just bought some books on traveling through Florence, as well as Europe, and I'm excited to look through them and get a better idea of what I'm getting myself into in a month and a half. haha

Visas!

We all officially have our visas, as of last night! One more step closer to the end of this crazy waiting game. With the end of the quarter we are also only 6 weeks away from departure- excitement is starting to become a permanent sort of feeling.
Thanks to everyone for the wonderful surprise party on wednesday! I was so surprised and very gratefull. It is a little sad, as Emily posted, to have to say goodbye to everyone for a full semester. I will miss everyone!!
Before that time of official departure, hopefully I will get to see many of you again, and have a great Thanksgiving break!

Much love to all, Katy

the last supper

Tonight was so wonderful. A bunch of us art majors went to dinner at the mac for Katy Joey and my 'last supper', and then we went back to Wilson only to be surprised by everyone! There was cake, lovely signs and sweet gifts...it made me so happy, but sad at the same time. I'm going to miss everyone so much! Thank you everyone in Wilson who made our goodbye so wonderful!

the visa applications are in!

Last week we drove up to Detroit to turn in our Visa applications. Lets just say it was an adventure. We got lost in a shady area of town, then almost took a bridge to Canada....it was nerve racking. Eventually we got the applications turned in, and everyone at the Italian Consulate was friendly and encouraging. Now we just have to wait for the visas to come....and then wait till we leave!
